DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BEGINS BULK LEAF COLLECTION
(10/26/2007) HAVEN- Residents are encouraged to begin packing-up collected leaves in recyclable bags in preparation for the Department of Public Works’ bulk leaves collection program. The pick-up program is set to begin Thursday, November 1. While leaves will also be picked up on regularly-scheduled trash collection days, the Department will also operate larger vehicles on a separate schedule to pick-up only bulk leaves.
After each special collection, street sweepers will follow the collection vehicles to remove any remaining leaves. Residents are advised that ticketing and towing will be in effect during this special street sweeping. Red and white signs will be posted throughout the City reminding residents of parking restrictions related to this pick-up and clean-up effort.
Once leaves are collected and bagged, residents should set them out curbside for pick-up. Beyond the special schedule, residents can continue to collect leaves in recyclable bags and put them on their curb alongside their regular trash for collection weekly through the end of the fall season.
